KDE rocks

KDE has the power to do many things:

1) Release often
2) Release Well
3) Kick Butt

I have never even been as excited about _any_ operating system release (except for maybe GNU/Linux) as I am each time KDE whips out another release.

(note: I'm not calling KDE an Operating System, but for most Window-ites the GUI is all they know... :o) Thus for some people, KDE makes many OS's a viable OS.)

Sometimes the new is just too much to read, and you nod off for a second, but when you open your eyes, you'll be amazed the thing you were reading about is out already!

We don't know how you do it, but it only makes us want to get involved in the community... So congrats to all!

(My personal favorite would be Kdevelop... which I must depart to go use... (college) project is due :o)

Greg (or anyone else out there)...<P>I'm looking for a thorough, sensible write up why KDE rocks (esp. over Gnome). If you know of one, please let me know. If you don't stop by www.xandros.com in about a month.

Well, as an off and on contributer to KDE software (both within cvs and without), i'd like to point out that this "competition" between KDE and GNOME is a bit ill-founded. Both exist, and neither of them will go away as long as developers have interest.

I love KDE? Why? Because it suits my tastes. GNOME suits other people's tastes. Use both desktops and settle on which one you like. Don't make essays that advocate either of the desktops over each other. I think that simply fragments the community.

Instead, write stuff why KDE or GNOME is better than commercial desktops such as Microsoft Windows (c)(tm), or Apple MacOSX (c)(tm).

Yes, I realize that competition between KDE and GNOME spurs development, but I think it has gone too far. Most developers in both projects develop for fun, not because they want to kill the other desktop. Many of the comments in this article I think are taking things too far. People who say that Redhat is out to destroy KDE forget that they made many changes to

As for the about KDE menu item, I think it's out of place for people who run KDE applications outside of the KDE environment. I personally think it should be taken out of all KDE apps anyways. The user should (and is) given a chance to run KDE apps outside of KDE.
