Debian Jr. is not "a more simply debian", installable and configurable by 10-Year-olds, but rather a bunch of packages that makes Debian and Linux interesting for kids of that age!
BTW: When did you last try to install? When I first tried, i was scared first, then disappointed that there's no KDE;-) Now there is, and installing Debian is not harder, but just different!
I love Debian, and KDE on Debian...
