Interesting. There's some (possibly ifdef'd out) code in KTalkEdit (which i hacked together a couple of years ago) that started to experiment with this sort of thing. Since I wrote the code things have got easier (due to the properties support in widgets) but you may still find it worth a quick look. It was basically trying to read the text of the focuswidget/widget under the pointer.

Great! This is exactly what we are looking for. I couldn't find the source code of KTalkEdit using lxr.kde.org and Google - could you send a mail to our list concerning this?
