It is possible! All you have to do is enable a highly volatile option on configure (--enable-kmdi) and you will have all that and more. As usual, the only thing we're really missing is the time for this few people to complete that many tasks. ;-) We hope to introduce it very soon on a BE release. This will be pretty much what the new Kdevelop does for selecting windowing modes and collapsing panels. Wait a little and your patience will be rewarded... or send patches. ;-)
