I don't know why, but MPlayer supports DVD menues for me, as does xine-lib IIRC...

I usually use the MPlayer backend for KMPlayer, and MPlayer is compiled with libmpdvdkit for DVD support.

Yes. LinDVD ist part of the pre-install.
