So open source it already...

Unfortunately unless the tool you're promoting is open source, this just reads like an ad :-)
Open Source it *first* and then you'll find developers to help. Otherwise people will think you haven't understood... |

I wont claim to completely understand the open source community. Mozilla, BSD, GPL, Apache licenses facinate me in their suttle differences, but it is a really big world--the whole open source community. Let alone getting into the whole area of people being motivated to develop, maintain, support, and get passionate about something without being compensated. I would love to talk to others that are passionate about the concept (usability software tools) and if they also have the skillset and time to contrbute to the code we can talk about that also.
One person I have talked to along these lines is Andy Edmonds; he definitely has a passion for usability software tools and open source. Check out his stuff here... http://www.uzilla.org
Sorry it read like an Ad for you, I really didn't want it to. Just talking about my code and experience.
Thanks everybody for the comments!
Take care!
Pete Gordon

I can understand if people think it sounds like an ad, and that was something I thought about when /I/ initiated the interview.
The reason to why I invited Pete to the Dot, was that I thought his topic was relevant to KDE; it involves usability, and we've had similar topics floating around; user testing at aKademy, Klar Alvens testing application K Dexecutor, and various remote protocols.
Pete talks about his product too, but it's not without self consciousness, and it's easily distinguished from the other content -- I don't see the problems exist which a cloaked company plug article has.
Cheers,
Frans
