nativ Groupwise or SOAP/IMAP/LDAP interface?
by anonymous on Tuesday 02/Nov/2004, @13:26
Is this a native Groupwise connector in KMail like the Groupwise -Java & -Win32 client or a solution like it is implentet in Evolution to connect to a Groupwise server?

If this will be a native connector, then one of my dreams comes true!! Please, please, please, please made a native connector and I have the best Mail client in our company!!!

Please people from KDE/Suse, you belong to Novell now and you've all documents! Make this connector perfect!

Thank you very much!!!

No, but people from Suse programs for KDE? And Suse belongs to? Sorry, it's the rumour that a lot people from Suse programs for KDE.

Sorry, if this is not true. But hopefully the programmers of KMail works at Suse ;-)

Don't want to discuss this one, want to hear how KMail connects to GW, nothing else. But you can see I've some hope...

SUSE is a Novell company, so it makes little sense to distinguish between SUSE and Novell.

SUSE is in the process of hiring a new KDE developer to work on Groupwise integration btw. See http://www.suse.de/de/company/suse/jobs/suse_pbu/developer_kde.html

The GroupWise support is based on IMAP and SOAP.

thank you for your answer. a little bit sad, because our company restrictions does not allow us to activate imap/soap. although I'm in the IT-department, my chief think that our "special" users will be using different clients than gw-win32.

I don't like the java-client for Linux very much and hoped for Kontact, because this is intuitiv, fast and stable!

But thanks again for your answer! Bye
