Wow, this looks great. What I missed in the description is if this also works for kpart plugins, ie. does it register mimetypes/servicetypes?

klik can set them up for the application contained in the cmg, but it does not touch the world outside the cmg (this is by design).

If it works for KDE applications it is very likely expanding KDEDIRS as the KDE application rely on KStandardDirs to find their own resources.

If an application installs a MIME type into "its own" KDEDIR equivalent it should be visible to the rest of KDE as well
