There's 2 reasons I switched from Gnome to KDE way back in the v2 days, 1 was the file dialogs, the other was kprinter. Both were so far ahead of the competition and ubiquitous across the entire desktop, I couldn't see why anyone would choose to use anything else. Still believe it too, but they're not the only reasons I stay.

So add my thanks to Michael, and Ricoh now gets added to the list of recommended printers alongside HP and Epson. Now if only Canon would take note...

John.

I'd also like to give a plug to Minolta. Their 2430DL is a non-postscript network color laser printer that has a quality open source driver for it.

If you search something like kprinter for Gnome, have a look at gtklp. I tried both kprinter and gtklp and I have to say that gtklp offers for me more options than kprinter - especially with adjusting pages on a multi page print.
