Syncing laptops

Will OpenSync / KitchenSync give me a nice way to sync my laptop automatically when I put it in a docking station or connect via VPN to my office from, say, my home or a hotel?

Unison is the cross platform tool for this: http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/
