You're missing the point that good usability advice is based on research, knowledge and experience in the field. "Democracy" --especially the kind of democracy where you only count those that are vocal in a very limited sample-- is quite a bad basis for usability advice.

Apparently this makes a certain change of culture necessary, but I'm sure it's a change for the better.

And let's say it was taken to a fair vote, majority rules; you will still lose, as the rating for that wish is under 50%. Face it, most people don't like that feature.
