While funny, he's absolutely right. In some apps you use more often, you simply memorize in which region you have to click to change the sidebar view. But actually having to read the labels on these vertical tabs, sucks. It would be much better to spend a bit more horizontal space and use well chosen pictograms, instead labels. Problem is the (non-)accessibility of pictograms.
