Hey, this can be configure and completily dissable ;) or almost in kdvi it's possible (I did this right now)

And about dvi files, this format it's a bit old. This came with the first LaTeX compiler when the pdf don't exist!!!! and is used in the "scientific world", or almost the kown that this format exist :P
