from the germanic dept.
The KDE Project will present itself at CeBIT, the world's largest computer trade show, taking place in Hannover, Germany, from March 16th to March 21th. KDE will be presenting the latest release KDE 3.5 and give a preview of current developments for KDE 4, the next major KDE-version. You will find numerous KDE-developers and other contributors in Hall 5, booth G64/6. The KDE team would like to thank the LinuxPark for the booth and KDE e.V. and its supporting members for financial support. We would also like to thank Canonical, Fedora and Novell for providing CDs featuring the latest and greatest KDE.

KDE-contributors are going to give a talk:

  • Saturday, 17:15 - 18:00 Jürgen Gerner, Avanquest Software, "KDE im Business-Alltag"
  • Sunday, 12:15 - 13:00 Torsten Rahn, credativ GmbH, "KDE: Der Linux-Desktop mit Komfort"
  • Wednesday, 15:15 - 16:30: Daniel Molkentin, podium discussion: Open Source im Mittelstand - Exchange-Alternativen auf dem Prüfstand

i wish to be there
by fromthewrongcountry on Sunday 18/Mar/2007, @09:18
life is not fair ;(

And in unrelated note; can you explain to me why kiker is actively developed in trunk, I thought it is supposed to be merged with kdesktop to form the sexy plasma.

we need to extract the source which will be reused from kicker before we can kill it and make a plasmoid from it. just like we did with kdesktop -> krunner ;) i'm sure kicker will go soon.

kicker isn't actively developed in trunk. we keep it building and it essentially runs, but that's done basically just so that we have a panel in the meantime. =) there's not much effort (near zero, actually) being put into kicker in trunk.

well, the KDE booth and Scribus swapped places on Saturday morning (Thanks, Franz for making this happen!). So while all open booths aren't that big, KDE now has one of those which are more accessible from visitors.

CeBIT what??
by X on Sunday 18/Mar/2007, @12:44
Is there a even link to this CeBIT?? The article is strangely/suspiciously lacking in details about this event. I have my doubts that this is really the world's largest computer trade show... never even heard about it in any magazines. What does it stand for?

by Paul Leopardi on Sunday 18/Mar/2007, @15:39
CeBIT now has a number of sister exhibitions and conferences around the world.
In particular, OpenCeBIT is in Sydney 1-3 May, in conjunction with CeBIT.
See http://www.opencebit.com.au/
No sign of KDE so far, though:
