Sorry two corrections:
- first I like to thank very much for KDE4, my post seams a bit harsh.
- "KDE 3.1" should be "KDE 3.0" off course. KDE 3.1 and Mac OS 10.1 / 10.2 showed more features in the libraries.

it's even more like the situation with 2.0 than 3.0. 3.0 had few new library features and didn't introduce any really large subsystems. 2.0 had a large number of new infrastructure pieces, new apps (file manager, desktp and panels =) and took a long time to get out the door ...
but yes, you're right that we've been down this path before and it took a couple releases for apps to "catch up" with the library changes.
personally, i can't wait to get back to straight app devel ;)
