Remove those persistent labels. pop them up if needed, make them appear "on demand" !!!

that's called a tooltip, and it's there. The problem is that having labels works quite OK in english, but most other languages (esp german) are much longer. So there you get into trouble. We'll see what happens, at least for now the labels ensure the app dev's try to get the toolbar as clean as possible...
