unfortunately the sound quality is not too good - speakers are very difficult to understand as they are far away from the microphone...

It's a mystery that not even nerds can learn the very basics of sound recording.

    assuming they do know the basics, I'd not bet the average geek got some spare Neumann U87's hanging out of their pockets, as well as all the semi-pro gear needed to drive them.
    More likely, all they got is an el'cheapo electret bundled in whatever recording device they are using.
    Good luck getting any decent result with that, even if you do know what you are doing.
