Well, according to business users, an office suite usually does include PIM software. This is why MS Office also comes with Outlook. On the KDE side, to get similar functionality, you need both KOffice and Kontact (with KMail, KAddressBook, KOrganizer, etc.).

I think you have cause and effect mixed up.

MS Office comes with Outlook, as an added value over the pre-installed stand-alone Outlook Express, therefore business users think an office suite usually contains PIM software.

On desktop systems with an open 3rd-party market one can have PIM suite and office suite from different software vendors, probably each a specialist in its field.
Is is often even possible to switch either later one, due to the power of almost all players using open standards.
