I also think this is a brilliant idea. You could compare lines of code (~1 million for the entirety of KOffice vs ~ *5 million* for OO.o) and the number of paid developers working on each (*1* for KOffice IIRC (and he works exclusively on Kexi) vs ~50 on OO.o).

As far as I'm concerned, it's a no-brainer for IBM: KOffice simply gives a much better return on investment in terms of developer costs and has a vastly superior architecture.

I also agree. They should definitely be approached. A few of us have already spoken to Thomas Zander about some of the things from the *older* Lotus Smart Suite that we would like in KOffice. If the new IBM Symphony/Lotus actually joined forces with Koffice to bring this about, we could really start the ball rolling on something huge.
