Re: just two features !
by Martin Fitzpatrick on Wednesday 19/Mar/2008, @11:48
What I was getting at was intended to maintain the useful functionality of the Desktop: that is quick and easy access to useful/relevant files.

I've not used the current KDE4 desktop yet so I can't really comment but from what I understand it handles individual files as plasma applets?

What I would like to see is plasmas for known groups of files "Recent Downloads" "Recently Opened"

Ideally I would like a Task-Orientated desktop where it was possible to group a bunch of files, bookmarks, etc. in a single package so when I want to do some of "X" I just open the "X" package and bam. Everything is back where I left it... a lot of apps in KDE provide similar functions now in Sessions but a wholly coordinated/integrated system would be neat.

You could then ship with some default "Tasks" to start people off.

But anyway, I've wandered a mile off topic. Short answer: I agree.
