Re: system settings -> change frame color?

Don't forget that for many people being practical is more important than looking artistically good. And that if the default theme completely ignores them, many of them will choose an other DE (the same way as if the default theme completely ignored beauty).

First I challenge that notion too. It may be more important for some, but no way for many. A bunch of people prefer cool looking over practical with ease. Look at sports cars, ipods and fake boobs.

Second thing is, being practical in most cases, the oxygen theme does in no way "completely ignore" the user. As i said, it works for me. And without all this hysteria going on, a good number of users wouldn't even know that immediately knowing what window is active is that important for them.

I still think that, while there are many people who prefer looking cool (I didn't say the contrary) but there are many (who use the computer for productive work) who value practical aspects.

Not knowing which window is active, or even the idea of the active window leads to confusion to the users, especially with modal dialogs. They open a config dialog and inside it they open a sub-configuration dialog which is modal. They do some settings therend click on OK in the main dialog because they don't realize that first they have to close the sub-dialog. I have seen this multiple times even with clearly different window decorations. Similarly if the user starts typing but the focus is on the wrong window, the result is unexpected to the user.
