Ya know, I've read through that exact (I think) page a couple times, and never saw this part:

"That last bit is important: it means that you can have an Old Skool(tm) desktop with an icon mess if that's what you really, really want."

And he went on to say that "support" for the Old Way will improve as KDE4 gets more polished.

Good News to me!
