Re: Here is the reality...
by CyberCzar on Wednesday 11/Apr/2001, @16:27
As Underthumb so prophetically said in his initial post by quoting the Goals of the KDE Project HTML page:

"...the lack of an easy to use contemporary desktop environment for UNIX has prevented UNIX from finding its way onto the desktops of the <b>typical
computer user</b> in offices and homes...It is our hope that the combination UNIX/KDE will finally bring the same open, reliable, stable and monopoly free
computing to the <b>average computer user</b>."

Ok, call me blind but nowhere does this mention LINUX or LINUX distributions.

As my Aunt Mary used to say, "Build a bridge and get over it!"

Warlord and Undethumb can quit whining right now, before I send a pound of cheese to both of your houses.

Um, you _are_ blind...

...Either that, or you didn't read the *entirety* of the KDE general overview, and dealt with Underthumb's quote completely out-of-context as a result.

You wrote, "Ok, call me blind but nowhere does this mention LINUX or LINUX distributions."

From http://www.kde.org/whatiskde/index.html :

"Without UNIX the internet would not be. But UNIX did not address the needs of the average computer user. This fact is particularly unfortunate since a number of implementations of UNIX ( Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD etc.) are freely available
on the internet. All of which are of exceptional quality and stability."

The bottom line analysis here is that the KDE general overview is clearly grouping *all* of the Unix implementations together when they use the word "UNIX," and Linux was even specifically listed in this grouping.

So yes, it does, in fact, quite clearly mention Linux. Specifically, even.

"Warlord and Undethumb can quit whining right now, before I send a pound of cheese to both of your houses."

Typical. Unable to address the issues at hand, you reduce valid points to "whining".
