WRT distributors providing binaries, I think we
have to realize they can only support what they
provide. If they do not provide KDE 2 in their
distribution, they are not obligated to provide
binaries as add-ons. If they do, we should be
grateful. Now if KDE 2 is a bugfix for KDE 1, I
would say they are obligated to provide binaries.
Meanwhile, as time consuming as compiling source
is, it is still the best option. Just my 2 kopeks
worth.
