New KDE Distro Releases: Mandriva 2008 and Kubuntu 7.10

Within the past couple of weeks two Linux distributions came out with new releases, featuring the K Desktop Environment. On October 9th, Mandriva Linux 2008 released their latest version to the masses. KDE 3.5.7 and Compiz Fusion 0.5.2 are just a couple of the updates with this latest release. openSUSE 10.3 Has Been Released

openSUSE 10.3 has been released with a new single KDE installation CD option. It has an excellent delivery of KDE with the latest stable KDE 3.5.7 and the first parts of KDE 4: games, KRDC and KRFB. KDEPIM has also been upgraded to the enterprise branch, providing a few new features and countless fixes.

openSUSE 10.3 to Include First Parts of KDE 4

openSUSE News is running a "Sneak Peeks at openSUSE 10.3" article which takes a look at KDE 4 in the upcoming release. In this version openSUSE will be providing a 1-CD KDE installation ISO that comes complete with some KDE 4 games, KRDC and KRFB. It also features an interview with KDE core developer Dirk Müller.

Ark Linux Releases 2007.1 and Announces KDE 4 Plans

The KDE centric distribution Ark Linux has announced the 2007.1 release, which includes KDE 3.5.7, the newly released Amarok 1.4.7, much better support for encrypted wireless connections out of the box, in addition to a large number of updates to software and drivers.

openSUSE 10.2, formerly known as SUSE Linux 10.x, has been released with KDE 3.5.5 and KOffice 1.6 (Krita is installed by default). As well as the usual latest free and open source software, openSUSE comes with the new KDE Menu "Kickoff", integrated with the latest Kerry Beagle.

Fedora Core 6 Released with KDE 3.5.4

Fedora Core 6 (Zod) has been released this week. Among other current software (Kernel 2.6.18.1, glibc 2.5, GCC 4.1.1, X.Org X11 7.1), Fedora Core 6 includes KDE 3.5.4. KDE 3.5.5 will be available as an official update soon.
