    Akademy 2008 is now open for registration. Akademy is KDE's World Summit, a week long event for all KDE contributors, industry partners and users. The week starts with a two day conference, and is set to include a tutorial day and a embedded and mobile day. As always, attendance to Akademy is free of charge, but you must register. Registration should be in by the 15th of June if you want the Akademy Team to book your accommodation for you. See you in Belgium!

    Earlier this month KDE Italia attended Open Mind 2008. A Free Software event organised by Roberto Dentice in San Giorgio near Naples. There were KDE talks and KDE demonstrations. Read on for the report.

    KDE is attending this year's LinuxTag in Berlin with a wide selection of talks. Starting with Aaron Seigo's lecture about KDE in the mobile world and a KDE-related series of presentations on Friday. There are also some stalls where you can meet people from the KDE community.

    The EmSys research group is hosting an "Embedded and Mobile Day" at Akademy 2008, this year in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium at Campus De Nayer. We welcome you to join the presentations and panel discussions about Open Source and Open Desktop technologies in embedded systems and mobile devices on Tuesday 12 August 2008.

    The programme committee of the Akademy 2008 KDE contributor's conference would
    like to thank everybody who already has submitted a proposal for a
    presentation at Akademy 2008. The conference programme is beggining to gain shape. Due to popular request the program committee would like to solicit additional proposals and has decided to extend the deadline for submission of
    proposals to Monday, May 12th. Tell the world about your contribution to KDE.
    Tell the community what cool things you have done with KDE. Submit your
    proposal for a presentation at Akademy 2008 no later than Monday, May 12th
    2008, 23:59 UTC, to akademy-talks-2008@kde.org.

    KDE Italia will be at Open Mind 2008

    KDE Italia is attending this year's Open Mind Free Software event from May 8 to May 10, 2008. This event is tailored for all people with an emphasis on young students. Giovanni Venturi and Daniele Costarella will give a presentation on KDE 4 as well as provide further information on KDE applications during their workshop. Open Mind is located at Villa Bruno - San Giorgio a Cremano - Napoli - Italy. There will be a KDE Italia booth at the event where you can go for more information on the team as well as KDE. Please stop by and say hello to Giovanni Venturi and the rest of KDE Italia.

    Call for Hosts for Akademy 2009

    Preparations for Akademy 2008 are in full swing, but KDE e.V. is already looking forward to next year and asks potential hosts to submit proposals for Akademy 2009. For the first time we also invite proposals to hold Akademy and GUADEC, the GNOME community conference, in the same location. More information can be found in the Call for Hosts for Akademy 2009 below or in the joint press release of KDE e.V. and the GNOME Foundation.

    A Kate Developer Meeting was held last weekend hosted by href="http://www.basyskom.de/">basysKom GmbH in Darmstadt to great success. Developers interested in improving KDE's advanced text editor met to shape the roadmap of Kate. An impressive nine attendees turned up including several new faces.

    The KDevelop Team Meeting Organisational Head Committee is happy to announce the agenda for Saturday and Sunday's KDevelop event in Munich. While enjoying some breakfast accompanied by a USB cup warmer, you can grill Harald with all your Qt related questions, watch Aleix present a live demo of KDE 4 and finally discuss what KDevelop 4 really should be. Sunday is reserved for in-depth KDevelop topics. Highlights include Roberto talking about language support, Andras on Quanta, Andreas on project management support, Hamish on editor integration and Vladimir on debugging. And of course there will be plenty of space for discussing your favourite KDevelop module directly with its creator.     KDE and Amarok Present at the OpenExpo in Bern

    On the 12th and 13th of March the 4th OpenExpo took place in Bern. /ch/open oranises the fair every 6 months alternating in Bern and Zurich. A wide variety of talks grouped into three different tracks accompanied the fair. This year more than 30 OpenSource Projects took the opportunity to present themselves and their work to a wide audience. KDE and the Amarok team was among them. The booths attracted many people intersted in the improvements of KDE4 and Amarok2. Most were impressed by the amazing efforts the project took to push KDE into a glorious future.
