If you are able to read German and use or plan to use KDevelop, it is now possible to get the help of a newly published book. In "KDevelop - Einführung in die Entwicklungsumgebung" KDevelop contributors Jonas Jacobi and Robert Gruber will not explain in great length that "The 'New File' menu entry opens a new file", but concentrate on less self-explatory topics like advanced code navigation, documentation with Doxygen or using Valgrind with KDevelop. The book, published by Munich-based publisher Open Source Press, uses KDevelop 3.4 as a reference.

In the good spirit of cooperation between Novell and KDE, Novell Poland contributed a large number of translations of KDE documentation to the Polish localisation team. The contribution contained 119 translation files and over 5700 translated messages (see this commit). Due to the long queue of translations it took us a while to process them, but we got them in to the recent KDE 3.5.3. We would like to thank Novell Poland for this contribution. We hope to see more cooperation in the future to bring the best desktop environment closer to the needs of non-English speaking users.

It was announced on Tuesday that the KDE Catalan l10n team will work together with TERMCAT (Catalan link), the organisation that standarises new words, usually technology related, in the Catalan language. Details are still being worked out but the team will provide them access to the NX account on the OpenUsability server, so they can test the translations while we work on them. This will allow them to have a look at how their translation will look in future versions of a given program.
