The goal for the third beta is to show progress made since beta 2, as well as to gather feedback from both users and developers on the new UI and underlying infrastructure. This will allow the team to release a basically usable 2.0 release, demonstrating our vision for the future of the digital office to a larger audience and attract new contributions both in terms of code and ideas for improvements. Alexandre Prokoudine has an interview with Krita developers on his blog. Taken at the Libre Graphics Meeting he talks to Boud and Cyrille about KDE's painting application. When asked what are Krita's primary goals the answer is "Krita is a very flexible foundation for all kinds of image processing. We’ve got an unparalleled architecture to build raster graphics on and a really flexible system of plug-ins", which covers pretty much everything.

The KDE Project today announced the eighth alpha release of KOffice 2, a technology preview of the upcoming version 2.0. Work continues in the same vein as before, with a strong focus on finishing and polishing our new features that will set KOffice. This is a work in progress, showing the changes that have been made over the last month by the KOffice developers. Most features that will be part of the final release are present now, and bug reports are welcome for the more stable components.

This version adds a lot of polish, some new features in Kexi and KPresenter and especially better support for the OpenDocument format. It is clear that the release of KOffice 2.0 with all the new technologies it brings is drawing nearer.
