Team Sets Seventh Beta of KDevelop4 Loose
Wednesday, 16 December 2009
The KDevelop team is proud to announce the seventh beta of KDevelop4. At the same time we're a bit sad as this beta also marks our drop-out of the KDE SC 4.4 release cycle. We feel that we didn't manage to get the needed features for the 4.4.0 release working properly and that we'll need a longer freeze period than what is available in the release cycle. We're now concentrating on getting the existing features shaped up and ready for release as well as fixing as many of the bugs as we can. No new features will be introduced into KDevelop anymore until the first release, which is currently aimed at end of March.

KDevelop Beta 6 and PHP Beta 1 Released
Wednesday, 4 November 2009
The KDevelop team is proud to announce the sixth beta of KDevelop4. There haven't been any major features started since beta 5 as this is mostly a bugfix release (demonstrated by the list of fixed bugs). This also marks the end of the KDE 4.2 support. With this release KDevelop4 requires KDE 4.3 and Qt 4.5 to fully supply the GUI we want to provide our users with. It is also the last release that we're doing on behalf of ourselves, all upcoming betas will be done together with KDE 4.4. We are aiming at releasing with KDE 4.4.0 as we think that KDevelop4 is ready feature-wise and really needs to get a first release out of the door.
Additionally with this beta, we are also releasing the first beta of the PHP and PHP-Documentation plugins. These two add PHP language support (including classview and code-completion) and documentation-view to KDevelop. They are currently developed in playground and are shaping up quite nicely. There is no release date set on these two, however we'd like to get these into the unstable repositories of distributions.
You can find the source packages on the KDE mirrors and there are instructions for compiling. You can also check out a comparison of the KDE 3 and KDE 4 versions of KDevelop.

The KDevelop team is proud to announce the third public beta of KDevelop4. This release includes some major new features, such as a new code-writing assistant, a new documentation plugin showing you the API docs for Qt and KDE APIs, a reworked
Mercurial plugin and a rewrite of the classbrowser plugin. On top of that we improved stability a lot, made loads of small improvements throughout and fixed as many bugs as we could.

KDevelop 4 Beta 1 Available
Thursday, 5 February 2009
On behalf of the KDevelop team I am happy to announce that we have reached the next milestone on our way to a final release, KDevelop 4 Beta 1. We feel that KDevelop 4, although in no way feature complete, is now usable and stable enough to get first feedback from a somewhat wider audience. Being a beta there are of course still bugs and missing functionality, but we have excellent language support for C++, integration of the CMake buildsystem, subversion, git and even starts of Qt GUI designer integration.
