FOSDEM 2009: Devroom Speakers Wanted

As always, KDE will have a presence at next year's
FOSDEM in Belgium on 7-8 February 2008.
This is earlier in the month than usual. We are looking for people to give talks in the KDE or cross-desktop devroom. FOSDEM is the European meeting of free software developers, with over 4000
visitors, 200 lectures and lots of stalls to visit over a 2 day period. You
can come and listen to a plethora of interesting talks about anything related
to free software, and meet the people behind the nicknames.

Krita Team Seeking Artwork for User Gallery

With Krita's recent 1.6 release enhancing its usability for professional artwork, the Krita team is looking into creating a
gallery where Krita users can contribute their art made with it. Any decent gallery needs to be seeded with some initial artwork. So we are asking any
Krita user who might want to show his painting skills, to consider making us a pretty painting. With some luck, it'll get selected to be put on the site.

Newsforge: KDE 4 Musings and a Marketing Initiative

Newsforge has a couple of interesting articles about KDE. In KDE 4 developers look towards new desktop possibilities, where KDE developers talk about some ideas for the next major KDE version. Among those ideas are universally available personal information, and a desktop that is tailored for and responds to the things users do most. Another article one is about a new marketing initiative, where KDE and GNOME collaborate on free desktop promotion. This initiative recognises how much each project has to gain from working together to take market share from the proprietary competition.
