It provides a great starting point for those interested in learning how the powerful KDE configuration framework is set up, with further insight into how to centrally customize a desktop setup. It also provides examples and pictures of various configuration options and demonstrates the many desktop restrictions available to an administrator.

KDevelop 3.0 (Gideon) Alpha 4 is Out

The KDevelop team announces the availablility of KDevelop 3.0 Alpha 4a (yes, 4a). In the more than 3 months since the last release, many new features have been added, bugs have been squashed, and existing features have been refined and polished. Downloads are available via the KDE mirrors. Direct links to packages can be found at the KDevelop download page.

Final Alpha of KDevelop 3.0 (aka Gideon) is out

The KDevelop team is proud to announce the third and final alpha release of KDevelop 3.0.
Sources can be downloaded here and binary packages will be available soon from here. Since the previous alpha release almost all known crashes have been eliminated, many bugs have been fixed, and an integrated valgrind part has been added. All users of earlier versions of Gideon are encouraged to upgrade, and KDevelop 2.1 users are also encouraged to try Gideon out.

The KDevelop team would like to announce the availability of KDevelop 3.0 Alpha 2, codenamed Gideon (screenshot). This release fixes many bugs since Alpha 1 was released over a month ago and adds a few minor features to the mix. Users of KDevelop 2.x will notice substantial improvements and are encouraged to begin upgrading so that new bugs can be identified and squashed. Both 2.x and 3.0 should work along side each other. The KDevelop team would like to announce the availability of KDevelop 3.0 Alpha 1 (also known as Gideon). This represents a complete redesign of KDevelop and includes tons of new features, and a new interface. Available through KDE ftp mirrors, the KDevelop web site and CVS, Gideon brings out the best in what an Integrated Development Environment should be. Users of KDevelop 2.x will notice substantial improvements, while new users will be amazed at the flexibility and extensibility put into this program. Improvements include: pluggable parts, rewritten Automake/Makefile.am support, support for more programming languages (Java, C, PHP, Perl, etc.), better code completion support, source code control integration, and more!
