CA-Browser Forum Finalises Extended Validation Certificates

The CA-Browser forum, a group of leading Certificate Authorities and web browser developers, has approved the first version of Extended Validation certificates for use with web browser and other applications to certify a higher level of identity verification. WebKit Ported to Qt 4

Today the KDE team announces a new project to re-synchronize our HTML engine, KHTML, with the WebKit engine. Code named Unity, the project has so far focused on porting the WebKit engine to Qt 4 with minimal changes to the existing code-base. KDE Interacting With the Browser Community

Web Browser Developers Work Together on Security

Real World Linux Slides Online

This month I had the opportunity to speak about KDE, what KDE is doing to move into the enterprise, and present a case study of a company who moved from a Microsoft Windows platform to Linux and KDE. The presentation was at Real World Linux in Toronto, and Robert Brodie of Display Works Inc. joined me to talk about their migration experiences. KDevelop: New Qt Based Smartphone with KDevelop SDK

A new Linux based smartphone by Samsung was announced recently. The SCH-i519 phone runs a Linux distribution produced by Mizi Research Inc. The user interface is based on Qt, and according to their web site, the SDK they provide is based on KDevelop! On Monday, thanks to the amazing help of Jill Ratkevic, Bruce Perens and Xandros, I was able to attend the Desktop Linux Conference to represent and speak about KDE. I followed a talk by Xandros, another KDE based product, and their demonstration was an impressive example of how KDE is being used to do great things. My talk focussed on what KDE is, what it provides, and where we're going with 3.2. It's standard for KDE developers, but important for those who are looking to move to Linux on the desktop.
