Registration for aKademy 2006 Open

The aKademy 2006 organisation team is please to announce that registration for this year's conference in Dublin, Ireland, has now opened. KDE welcomes registration from anybody interested in the future development of KDE, including developers, translators, other free software projects, representatives of the software industry and ISVs interested in using free desktops and the KDE application framework.

aKademy 2006 Deadline Approaching

The deadline for aKademy 2006 submissions is fast approaching. We are still looking for technical contributions, community success stories, tales of interoperability, industrial innovation and integration and cross-desktop creativity. The Call For Papers says that a 300 word abstract and a short bio is needed to secure your place for consideration by the programme committee. Send them in!

KDE at LinuxWorld Expo Korea 2006

On June 5-7th the Korean version of the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo series opened its doors for the first time in Seoul. The visitors could learn about various Asian distributions which use KDE including Haansoft.

Second Day KDE 4 Multimedia Meeting

Though it was still rainy here at the Annahoeve in the Netherlands, the KDE 4 multimedia meeting was definitely up to speed. This article will report on the progress the hackers made yesterday, including the "why" and "what" of redesigning and speeding up amaroK, work on the KIO slaves and Phonon.

KDE Multimedia Meeting in the Netherlands

Multimedia in KDE has been in the news lately, especially Phonon, the new multimedia framework for KDE 4. Phonon still needs a lot of work, as do the applications which are going to use it. So, in the spirit of the previous KDE PIM meeting, Annahoeve in Achtmaal, The Netherlands, will again be visited by a group of KDE developers.

Visit KDE at LinuxTag 2006

Germany's largest Free Software exhibition LinuxTag has opened today and runs until Saturday at Wiesbaden near Frankfurt. KDE is exhibiting on booth number 937a and will be showing off our plans for KDE 4 plus what's new in KDE 3.5 and KOffice 1.5. KDE related talks include Ariya Hidayat on KOffice, Sven Krohlas on amaroK and a workshop by Torsten Rahn and Daniel Molkentin on Qt 4.
