I recently got a chance to interview George Staikos, the official representative for the KDE project in North America. He addresses some questions on the current status of the KDE project, and about the problems they have faced.

Q: It has been eight years since the start of the KDE Project. At the very end of the project announcement, Matthias said that he is a "dreamer". Has his dream become a reality or is KDE still someway off?

Some time ago KDE-Look.org launched an icon contest where artists could submit an icon to be used for KPDF in the next KDE version. It seems the contest has now been prolonged. Curious about this icon contest I contacted the initiator Albert Astals Cid and some jury members to ask them some questions.

A few weeks ago KOffice 1.3.3 was released, the third bugfix release in the 1.3.x series. The people of Golem.de conducted an interview with David Faure, maintainer of KWord and the KOffice libraries about KOffice. They have sent us the English version for publication on the KDE news website for your reading pleasure.

Some time ago we made a mention of Skype on Linux in one of our short newsflashes called 'Quickies'. We were very pleased by the way it nicely blends itself into the KDE desktop. Now we contacted the Skype people where we came in touch with Jaanus Kase who took time to answer our questions.

During the KDE Community World Summit 2004 "aKademy" the 'Unix Accessibility Forum' took place which gave possibility for handicapped persons to come in touch with Unix. We talked with Lars Stetten, a partially sighted computer science student from Giessen.
