KDE Announces the 24 Google Projects

The KDE Project and Google announce the 24 KDE projects selected for the
"Summer of Code" project. The lucky students and the KDE e.V. will receive a
total of $120,000 if they can complete their projects in the allotted two
months.

KDE and Wikipedia Announce Cooperation

Today Jimmy Wales, chairman of the Wikimedia Foundation, announced the beginning of a cooperation between Wikimedia and the KDE project at LinuxTag in Karlsruhe, Germany.

KDE 3.4.1 Released

KDE 3.4.1 has been released. This is the first translation and bugfix release to the 3.4 series, it includes all security updates to date, numerous minor fixes and improved translations including a new Greek translation pack. KDE Project Offers Kolab Groupware Services to its Contributors

At the Dutch KDE-PIM meeting in Annahoeve last weekend it was announced that the KDE project will offer groupware services to all KDE contributors using the Free Software groupware server Kolab2. This means that every KDE project or contributor can get a Kolab2 account for sharing tasks, appointments, contacts and email.

Security: Advisories for kdelibs and Kommander

Two security advisories have been issued by the KDE Security Team which both affect KDE 3.2 up to and including KDE 3.4: kdelibs does not properly perform input validation for image files. Kommander executes without user confirmation data files from possibly untrusted locations.

KDE 3.4 is Out

KDE 3.4 has been released today. "After more than a half year of development the KDE Project is happy to be able to announce a new major release of the award-winning K Desktop Environment. have been released today that address minor problems that were brought to the attention of the KDE security team over the last few months. All these issues have been fixed in KDE 3.4, for older KDE versions patches are available.
