KDE e.V. Quarterly Report 2005Q4 Released

KDE e.V. has released its second quarterly report [PDF] covering the activities of KDE's legal body for the last three months. This quarter saw the first meeting of the new KDE e.V. board and of course the creation of the Technical Working Group. Technical Working Group Elected

The first Technical Working Group for KDE has been elected. It will consist of seven long-time contributors to KDE and become operational in the few next days. The group has been elected by the members of KDE e.V.. This initial Working Group is elected for a period of six months. After this period an evaluation of the Working Group will take place. If it proves successful, elections will take place once every year. The group will help the hundreds of KDE developers in reaching technical decisions.

K Desktop Environment 3.5.1 Released

KDE 3.5.1 was released today, featuring fixes to over 150 reported bugs and many other small improvements making this the most stable and feature-rich Unix desktop ever.

Security: KJS and KPDF Security Advisories

The KDE Project released a security advisory today for a heap overflow vulnerability in KJS. Earlier this month, a number of integer overflows affecting KPDF, and consequentially KOffice were found and fixed. Patches have been made available and your distributor should have updated binary packages.

Formation of the KDE Technical Working Group in Progress

The first Technical Working Group for KDE is now being formed, with elections due over the next few weeks. The Group will help the hundreds of KDE contributors come to technical decisions and smooth processes such as major releases. It will also provide technical guidance to KDE contributors. Seven members of the KDE e.V. will be elected for an initial six months. After this period the Group will be evaluated, and if it proves successful elections will take place once every year. All members of the KDE e.V.

The KDE Project is happy to announce a new major release of the award-winning K Desktop Environment. KDE 3.4.3 has been released. This release includes many bugfixes and increased translation coverage compared to previous versions.

KDE 3.5 Beta 1 "Kanzler" Released

The testing period for the next major KDE release has begun with the release of KDE 3.5 Beta 1, codenamed Kanzler. This will be the last major release in the KDE 3 series so make sure it turns into the best one by downloading and testing today. The 3.5 Beta 1 information page gives the download link as well as an important warning on using Qt 3.3.5.
