Trolltech has issued new patch releases of all current versions of Qt. Versions 3.3.7, 4.1.5 and 4.2.1 fix a security flaw which can be triggered by transforming specially-prepared pixmaps. It is a recommended update, although no real-world security issues exploiting these flaws have been recorded so far. Distributions are also releasing updated packages, note that distributions may release security-patched updates without changing the Qt version number. Read More

A GUI editor for database lookup columns has been added in Kexi. More SVG card sets are added to the resurgent KDE games for KDE 4. User interface enhancements in Kst and Kalzium. Multimedia file tag handling improvements in Amarok (.wav) and Strigi (.mp3). Strigi-enhanced versions of the standard find and grep utilities introduced. The annual KDE World Summit, aKademy, has found a home for 2007 in the vibrant city of Glasgow. The week-long event for contributors to the leading Free Desktop project will be held from 30th June to 7th July 2007 in Scotland's largest city. Our hosts will be the Department of Computer & Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde. There are three sub-events: a contributors conference, the KDE e.V. annual general assembly and a week long hacking session that offers the opportunity to discuss all sorts of things face-to-face. The KOffice team is proud to announce the 1.6.0 release of its office suite. This release is mostly a feature release of Krita and Kexi, but also contains major enhancements to the OpenDocument and MathML support of KFormula and new scripting functionality. Yesterday at 10:00 AM the president of the KDE e.V. Eva Brucherseifer welcomed the audience of the presentation track at the KDE anniversary event at the Technische Akademie Esslingen (TAE) in Ostfildern near Stuttgart, Germany. Keynote speakers were Matthias Ettrich, founder of the KDE project, as well as Klaus Knopper of Knoppix fame.
