Try KDE is a new resource listing ways that you can try out KDE without commiting to a full GNU/Linux or BSD install. It includes links to live cds, VMware player images and Klik bundles as well as links to KDE desktops available over NX, with explanations of these technologies. It is linked to from the KDE frontpage and will be updated regularly as more resources are discovered. KDE Look and Feel for Java Preview

Sekou Diakite has released an alpha version of a KDE Look and Feel for Java. This is an interesting step forward in Linux/Unix desktop integration since Java applications can now use the KDE/Qt libraries for drawing Java widgets and even directly use existing KDE widgets such as the file or color choosers. The weekly summary of happenings in KDE development, The KDE Commit Digest, has returned with a new author, Danny Allen. Highlights in the current issue: "KFileDialog becomes aware of media:/ and system:/. New icons and other fixes in amaroK. New privacy features and multiple webcam connection support for the MSN protocol in Kopete. kcmwifi removed in /trunk (to be replaced by Solid in KDE 4). Kerry, the KDE Beagle frontend, is imported into KDE SVN." Last month Qt developers Trolltech released bugfix releases Qt 3.3.6 and 4.1.2. *** Trolltech have also announced that they will be opening offices in Germany, the requirement to work there is incredible coding skills. *** Thiago announced he is collecting requests from KDE developers for Qt. *** On April 1st the amaroK developers surprised the world by announcing amaroK 2.0. *** ZDNet took a look at the Portland Project which announced a technology preview of their platform for ISVs needing cross desktop compatability. *** KDE Forum is back online with a new look and new moderators, thanks Bram and Ruurd. *** Finally congratulations to Annma who announced the newest KDE Edu tester.

The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of Scribus 1.3.3, codenamed "Printemps". The 1.3.3 release is the fourth development version working towards a new stable 1.4. Within this release period over 200 bugs and feature requests were completed mostly focused on useability and correctness. See the release announcement for some of the major changes.
