New KDE Localization Website

After 6 months of development, the KDE Localization (l10n) website has been launched replacing the old i18n.kde.org. It uses the default KDE layout, and its admins hope this site will help the KDE translation process work better than ever. Read on for the details. Read More

amaroK 1.4 Beta 1 Released

KDE e.V. has released its second quarterly report [PDF] covering the activities of KDE's legal body for the last three months. This quarter saw the first meeting of the new KDE e.V. board and of course the creation of the Technical Working Group. Technical Working Group Elected

The first Technical Working Group for KDE has been elected. It will consist of seven long-time contributors to KDE and become operational in the few next days. The group has been elected by the members of KDE e.V.. This initial Working Group is elected for a period of six months. After this period an evaluation of the Working Group will take place. If it proves successful, elections will take place once every year. The group will help the hundreds of KDE developers in reaching technical decisions. aKademy-es 2006 in Barcelona

Did you think that this year we would not have a KDE event in Spain? Nothing further from reality. Badopi (the LUG of Barcelona) are organising the first aKademy-es event so you can have an excuse to meet other Spanish KDE developers, users, translators, artists and share some good days with other KDE people. aKademy-es 2006 is scheduled to be a small event for all KDE users and developers from Spain to attend talks, share experiences, etc. It will take place in Barcelona from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th of March. KOffice 2 Design Competition Deadline Approaches

Late December the KOffice team announced a design competition for KOffice 2. A prize of $1000 USD will be given to the best entry as determined by a panel of judges. The deadline for submissions is now only 2 weeks away. Several quality proposals have been submitted, but there is always room for more. So if you have been considering an entry until now, please read the guidelines for objectives, submission formats and examples. For those already working on entries, please review entry requirements and make sure to meet the deadline. K Desktop Environment 3.5.1 Released

KDE 3.5.1 was released today, featuring fixes to over 150 reported bugs and many other small improvements making this the most stable and feature-rich Unix desktop ever. Konqueror, KMail, KPDF, Juk, Kopete, Kalzium and Quanta in particular saw a large number of improvements in stability and performance. Users are encouraged to upgrade when their distributor releases packages. There are updated packages available for Arch Linux, Gentoo, Kubuntu, Red Hat and Slackware or you can compile it yourself with Konstruct. KDE at Solutions Linux 2006

Solutions Linux is currently taking place in Paris -- January 31st to February 2nd. KDE is participating in the Pavillon des associations and we're running a booth over there. We are welcoming present and future users to our demonstration of the latest stable version of KDE. KOffice 1.5 beta 1 Released

The KDE Project today announced the release of KOffice 1.5 beta 1, the first preview release for KOffice 1.5, scheduled for release this March. KOffice is an integrated office suite with more components than any other suite in existence.
