No KDE CVS-Digest for April 8, 2005
Sunday, 10 April 2005

Numanee
Week after week since November 2002, Derek Kite has been posting the KDE CVS-Digest without fail. This week, due to technical issues beyond Derek's control, there will be no digest. KDE CVS-Digest is the longest running and one of the most appreciated KDE development reports in the KDE community.
Derek first announced the digest on the dot on November 29th 2002, but had in fact been pushing out trial issues since November 9th. By my count that's 125 issues of KDE CVS-Digest so far, compared to 76 for KDE Traffic and 28 for KDE Development News. Hats off, Derek!

|
Taj
The EU-funded FLOSSPOLS project is carrying out a survey of participants worldwide. This is a follow-up to the original FLOSS survey in 2002, one of the first and most comprehensive surveys of developers - who they are, how they work and why they do it. The new survey aims to provide an update, include new developers and other participants, and answer some of the questions that were raised by the first one: in particular, on the role of developer communities for learning skills and employment generation, and on the low level of participation by women.

Although KOffice may not yet be at the level of functionality of OpenOffice, it is still a pretty powerful office suite albeit with relatively little coverage. KDE Chooses BitKeeper for Source Code Repository
Friday, 1 April 2005

Dmolkentin
Due to severe problems with the scheduled migration of KDE's massive source code repository from the CVS revision control system to Subversion, the KDE project has decided to opt for the BitKeeper source control system as the more pragmatic choice. The full press release follows; further details on what this will mean to KDE developers and contributors requiring repository access will be posted shortly to the KDE Wiki.
