The KOffice team is happy to bring you the fifth bugfix release of KOffice. KOffice 1.3.5 features a new language (Breton), the PDF import filter includes a stronger security fix and there are also a few fixes for the OpenOffice.org Impress Export Filter.

Sirtaj Singh Kang and I will be presenting talks at this year's Linux Bangalore conference at the Indian Institute for Science. The fair runs December 1 - 3 and will feature tracks on various topics including Linux on the desktop. I'll be doing a talk on searching and contextual linkage and Taj will be presenting a roadmap for KDE's future.

Gone are the days when KDE users would lament for an XMMS replacement.
With the likes of amaroK (down) and JuK on the
scene, it would seem that KDE Multimedia is gaining new fans. Which
brings us to this user's
opinion piece on amaroK (coral). It may be illogical... but at least it
has screenshots. It'll be interesting to see what KDE Multimedia 4.0
looks like.

Ian Geiser and I traveled to Monterrey, Mexico to attend the KDE booth in the ExpoLinux 2004 Business Summit (1st to 3rd November). The Expo was located in a place called Cintermex, specially adapted for conferences and expos. There were like 25 booths with local business showing business solutions. The biggers being Novell, IBM and Hewlett Packard. We were in a normal booth, and the fact that ours was one of the most visited was very interesting.

Some time ago an icon contest was hosted on KDE-Look.org to find a new icon for KPDF. Since then, we have interviewed the jury, and mentioned KPDF Coolness here on the dot. The jury had a tough time deciding on a winning icon, but they have finally chosen the icon to be used in the next version of KPDF.
