Novell/SUSE Saga Part II

Friday, 6 February 2004  |  Numanee
As a followup to our previous Novell/SUSE article, we have further good news. Following the completion of the acquisition of SUSE by Novell, SUSE CEO Richard Seibt, who had previously expressed a strong commitment to KDE, has been promoted to president of Novell-EMEA and is now in a position to not only to maintain SUSE's strong KDE support but also to help deploy it more widely around the world. Even more interesting, SUSE R&D Vice President Markus Rex will now be responsible for Novell's Linux desktop activities and not solely Miguel and Nat as previously hinted. com.com is reporting further details. Translation: KDE op Platt!

Saturday, 31 January 2004  |  Elektroschock

The language is spoken in Northern Germany, the Netherlands and even in parts of the Mennonite Community in the United States and Paraguay. There are several millions of Plattdüütsch speakers, but Low Saxon -- stuck in the middle of German, English (Anglo-Saxons!) and Dutch -- is on the decline in favour of official languages such as German or Dutch. Report: KDE at LWE NY, 2004

Thursday, 29 January 2004  |  Igeiser
KDE has wrapped up another successful visit to Linux World Expo, this year at the Javits Convention Center in New York. For three days, 10 KDE developers and a few others helped deal with a huge amount of interest from the crowd, showing off the latest and greatest in KDE 3.2. This year's show was thought to be at least twice as good as last year's, and a great time was had by all. The fun didn't stop after the expo either, with several dinners providing plenty of time for spirited arguments and the occasional hacking session. A new application for KDE was conceived (rss syndication), as well as a 5-minute hack ("Google Klip") which allows a Google search on the current Klipper selection to be invoked with a single keyboard shortcut.
