Remembering Claire Lotion

Sunday, 20 May 2012  |  KDE.org

Claire Lotion
This week we heard about the death of KDE contributor Claire Lotion. People within the KDE Community were shocked and upset by this tragedy.

Claire was a vibrant person with strong ideals. She will be remembered for pursuing these ideals, and as a good friend and colleague. She also thought a lot about how KDE as an open source community could find connections to the real business world. Her energy, fresh look at things, positive mindset and intense commitment inspired many people. So did her dancing.

LaKademy 2012 ‒ Artwork, Localization, Promotion, Development

Sunday, 6 May 2012  |  Sandroandrade
LaKademy is over. April 27th to May 1st were days of hard work, meeting old and new friends, having much fun while realizing how far crazy guy imaginations can go. It was a great summit and sprint. Compared to the first (and only one so far) Akademy-BR in 2010, there is clear evidence that we are making progress building a strong and mature KDE community in Latin America. We met in a lovely hostel in Porto Alegre, Brazil and were well taken care of during the event. LaKademy brought together 19 Latin American participants, including developers, translators, designers and promoters. The full report has more information about major LaKademy outcomes related to artwork, localization, promotion, and developing.

Thank you KDE e.V. and Claudia Rauch for your support.

Presentation List for Akademy 2012 Tallinn

Friday, 27 April 2012  |  Thiago
The Akademy 2012 Program Committee is proud to present the Akademy 2012 Sessions. Given the broad nature of KDE, the proposals submitted contained a wealth of interesting and valuable topics. From those, 28 proposals were selected that we felt would address the most relevant topics and be deep enough in the areas of most interest to the KDE Community.

Session focus areas

At Akademy 2012, there will be a lot of focus on KDE Frameworks 5, which will adapt the KDE codebase to the Qt 5 release. For that reason, the committee selected a series of talks relating to the Frameworks project and to Qt 5.
