The first Season of KDE has started. The Season of KDE is a follow-up project to Google's Summer of Code, giving all the applications that did not make it into the final selection a chance to be implemented anyway. We are happy to announce that 14 students have agreed to work on their projects even without the financial support from Google. Wine integration work sounds like it's getting hot.

What I would like to see is REAL KDE integration, either by linking wine against Kdelibs and letting the KStyle draw the Wine GUI or by doing something similar like the QtGTK style which lets KStyle create images of certain images and transform those in such a way that they fit the low-level theming capabilities of GTK. Such a method has been already prepared by the Winedevs, see

Would love to see Wine applications to adapt fonts, colors, widgets...
BTW: Anyone knows what happened to reaktivate? That was a really cool project. ActiveX inside konqueror! Shockwave pages without Wine+IExplorer....

ActiveX makes me sick too, but reaktivate was a nice option to play shockwave without the need of another window with IExplorer+shockwave under wine.

This is great news. I'm impressed that not only a few, but rather a high number of 14 students do this without being paid. This is more than half of the original Summer of Code students!
Kudos to Sebastian, Pradeepto and all the motivated developers to pull this through... now we have an opportunity to check the theory that unpaid development yield better quality results than the paid version :D
(Although I do hope that this doesn't apply to any of KDE's Summer of Code projects, and mine in particular ;)
I read the description of the project "Konversation: Scripting support", and I think that could be an interesting feature. Wouldn't it be a good idea to use Kross ?
One thing I'm really missing is a logger for packages offered by xdcc bots. Currently I think these are only available for mIrc/Windows (like xdccklipper.sourceforge.net).
I hope this project makes it possible or just lowers the entry level to code this kind of script/addon.
This would make irc'ing much easyier for many - looking for packages becomes less hassle, no more scrolling around in the chat view (if the log hasn't been cut off yet).
